The Bachelor of Arts in English is designed to expose the students to English Language and Literature for scholarly and practical purposes. The program provides excellent preparation for any profession requiring a higher level of knowledge and comprehension in oral and written communication. The graduates will be prepared for teaching, research, and administrative responsibility. English major is a widely recognized and desired preparation for graduate degrees in teaching, journalism, management, and administration. The program is also suitable for students interested in a broad general background in the humanities with a concentration in literature and language and for those interested in obtaining a firm foundation for further study in graduate school levels.
This is a broad-based, multidisciplinary program designed to equip the graduates to meet the demand of the changing society. The program is built on a number of foundation courses of general interests that will broaden horizon of the students. The support courses will directly facilitate the understanding of the core courses.
BA (Honours) in English EUB is a full time, day program. This is a four-year program consisting of 12 (twelve) regular terms. Students will be required to do 40 courses consisting of 120 credit hours.
Students will earn letter grades in the courses they complete, but will earn passing (satisfactory) or failing (unsatisfactory) grades in the Comprehensive Examination and in the thesis work.
Admission Requirement:
* To be eligible for admission to the B.A. Honours program in English a student must have at least 2nd division or an average CGPA of 2.5 in S.S.C./Dakhil and H.S.C./Alim Exams or a minimum CGPA of 2.00 in five subjects at ‘0’ level and a minimum CGPA of2.00 in two subjects at ‘A’ level Exams.
* Must have 45% marks in English at the SSC/HSC level
* Students having break of study can apply.
* Students with post-school qualifications (e.g. Diplomas, Advanced Diplomas) may be considered for admission with advanced standing or credit (recognition of prior learning).
